About Us

Earth Burger was established in 2014 by the vegetarian pioneers of San Antonio, Texas who created Green Vegetarian Cuisine. Their "big boom" idea was for Earth Burger to be one of the nation's first plant-based drive-thrus offering a healthier, better-for-you take on fast food for those on the go; making it the FIRST plant-based restaurant to change the future of fast food.

However, the exploration into the plant-based universe was a long journey for co-founder Chef Mike Behrend. Known as the "king" of chicken-fried steak and three-pound cinnamon rolls, Chef Mike lost 70+ lbs when he switched to a plant-based diet in 2005. After selling Lulu's Bakery & Cafe (featured on MAN VS. FOOD), Chef Mike put his culinary degree to work and opened San Antonio first vegetarian restaurant, Green Vegetarian Cuisine, which helped the plant-based scene explode in South Central Texas. From there, the big idea for Earth Burger launched after he and his co-founders had children and needed a place to eat on the go.

When eating at Earth Burger, you’re not settling for the average bland fast-food meal. Earth Burger’s menu is chef elevated with bold recipes and sauces that were created in Chef Mike’s kitchen. These personal touches, and great menu execution creates a plant-based space that consistently provides more protein and fiber, as well as less calories, than the fast food you’re accustomed to; and when it comes to the sweet tooth, Earth Burger has dessert covered with its own dairy-free soft serve recipe made from coconut milk.

Earth Burger’s goal is to provide people with better choices at a great value, while at the same time doing something better for the planet -- making it the leader in the plant-based universe.
